Enchanted Kingdom Weekend Escape
Posted at 11:29 PM

My friends and I went to Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna last Saturday and it was such a blast. We were supposed to ride a shuttle via Glorietta to go to the kiddie carnival, but ended up with me fetching them in Starbucks Pearl Drive and meeting with Don at Caltex SLEX. The night before our weekend getaway, Jenna and I bonded endlessly (about six hours) over our mobile phones since we haven't really had a nice, long chat in quite a while. I woke up late at a little before 7am and decided to call Jenna at home and to my surprise, her dad told me that she's still asleep! Haha! We were supposed to be up by 5:30am and be in the Ayala Train Station by 8 (Plan A - which was to ride the shuttle to Laguna). Anyway, I politely told Jenna's dad that we're supposed to be up by 5:30am and that she has to wake up. So we had another chat in the morning and it was right then and there where I decided that if I really wanted to go to EK with my friends I had to do something (rather than blindly relying on the shuttle that none of us had really even seen haha!) I actually really wanted to ride the shuttle because it's been ages since I've ridden a public transpo and more so a bus. I thought it would have been like a field trip since my high school really scrimped on out-of-the-way trips. Anyway, I called Pauwie and Waffy and told them that I'll be fetching all them in Starbucks Pearl. Tart, on the other hand, was already headed to the Ayala Station! Good thing Jenna was able to contact her and tell her our change in plans. I took a quick shower, fixed my travel bag, inspected the car (oil check, gas check, etc.), then headed to Ortigas. I initially wanted Waffy to drive the car (cos I'm a lazy driver and I've never done Laguna or even Tagaytay), but changed my mind when I realized that this is my first drive to anywhere but a place in Manila. I loved the drive so much and promised myself that I'll be doing it again. Bye bye shuttle and bus. *sob*

After a short drive to Caltex SLEX, we had breakfast in McDonald's and met with Don. Zooming on to our EK escapade, I was literally freaked out by most of the rides it was embarassing! haha! We rode the Space Shuttle, ferris wheel, mini roller coaster, balloon thing, swan (for couples who wanted to do some cardio at EK!haha!), and the rio grande twice. We also tried the bump cars and arcade. Jenna, Pauwie, and I thought it would be nice to have a little souvenir from the trip so we had hennas done after the rio grande.

I had lots of fun! I dropped Jenna, Tart, and Waffy in Market Market, while Pauwie wanted to be dropped off at Eastwood. I was so tired, but since I was happy and kind of hyper I even had some energy to fetch mum at the salon. We should really do this again! Thanks guys!

Mall of Asia Bonding-Day-Turned-Shopping-Day
Posted at 08:53 PM

The last time I went shopping for knick-knacks was probably during the Medieval Ages! Seriously, there are so many cute stuff to buy that I was probably preoccupied with cuddling next to Waffy that I was unable to browse the stuff malls have been bombarding us consumers. Anyway, I met Waffy in his place in Rockwell (I don't know how the exact location is called) then we scurried off to Mall of Asia. I wanted to drive so bad because it would be reminiscent of the drive to Enchanted Kingdom in Sta Rosa, Laguna. We got there at about 1pm and I had a quick lunch. We then browsed through home accessory stores since I've been wanting to have my own full-length mirror (everyone at home has one except for me) and we also checked out different styles of chairs (bar stools, ottoman, saddle chairs, wing chairs, etc.) After a little window shopping Waffy told me that he had to buy something in Watsons which turned out to be a L'Oreal Pure Zone Toner (reviews later). But since the SAs were ignoring him (probably thinking that since he's a guy he was just checking the L'Oreal booth and not at all thinking of purchasing) I approached and asked an SA to explain the benefits and differences of the various L'Oreal toners to me. I ended up buying a toner myself! haha! I also bought a Maybelline Sky High Curves mascara (reviews later) cos I've been wanting to try a mascara for the longest time and I heard great reviews on this product (the SA told me that Great Lash is already phased out *boo*). I also bought aviator sunnies that I've been searching for since 2005. It's a fab find since it's great, comfy, and also pretty cheap. Since I was in the mood to hunt great purchases, I prepped myself for the most difficult find yet - the Kerastase Nutritive Oleo Relax treatment. I saw one in Megamall (but wasn't so keen on having the hair treatment at the time) so I thought to myself that there better be one in Mall of Asia. While looking for a David's Salon branch (where they displayed Kerastase, In2It makeup, and other salon stuff) Waffy and I argued as to whether they sold Keratase to walk-in buyers (my bet) or just to in-salon customers (his bet). I won! So I took home a pricey hair product. I'm gonna try it first before returning to purchase the shampoo and conditioner, I heard there are also other great stuff in the other Kerastase lines (Reflection, Soleil, Resistance, Dermo-calm, and Specifique). It felt heartwarming to bring home a loot of nice buys. I'm definitely going to have another go at shopping for knick-knacks and that better be soon!

Hawaiian Barbecue at The Boutique Bed & Breakfast Tagaytay
Posted at 09:38 AM

My family and I went to Tagaytay last March 3 and I must say that I'm really missing Tagaytay. We went there to have a mini-vacation (mini meaning about a night's stay tops) on a Saturday, but we headed there after going to the different work sites (work before play) so we ended up getting there in the evening. I just wanted to stay in the hotel and sleep, but they begged that we grab a bite anywhere nice to at least feel the breezy place. I'm glad I went with them because we ended up eating in Hawaiian Barbecue (my pick!) located inside the posh The Boutique Bed and Breakfast. The place is fab and the service is great. Because we were in Tagaytay we still ordered Bulalo (Tagaytay specialty) and a Banana Split with vanilla and strawberry for dessert (I forgot the other dishes oops). But since we were tired from the long day we ended up having a quick meal, dashing off to our hotel, and dozing off. I awoke the following day at the hints of sunlight peeping through the cream curtains. We had mass at Lourdes Church, late lunch at Greenwich since my brother and I were craving their cheese pizza, and then we headed back to Manila. It was a quick vacation, but it was worth it.
I remember late last year going back-and-forth from Manila to Tagaytay with my parents (my bro had schoolwork) for one of their projects. It was so fun because they were there for work, but we got to bond, goof around, chat, and enjoy the cool breeze during the latter part of the year. I also got free coffee courtesy of my parents of course which was one of the nice parts. heehee. I'm hoping to do something different when I go back to Tagaytay and hopefully get more pictures!
Oh and I remember driving by Sonya's Garden, but my parents were in a rush so we weren't able to try the place. Note to self: go to Sonya's Garden.

No Longer a Spa Virgin ~ Garden Spa
Posted at 06:26 PM

As of this moment, I'm no longer a spa virgin. There, I said it. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing. The weather was nice and I knew I wouldn't be all sweaty and sticky so I called mum and told her that I'll fetch her from work. So off we headed to Garden Spa, a 5-minute drive from our place. It's not mum's first time there and the owners Tita Lily and husband Engr. Tito Ed are clients and good friends of hers. I parked the car on a designated spacious parking area outside and walked towards the lovely garden which envelopes the spa. As soon as we entered we were greeted by friendly and accommodating massage therapists, as well as the nice Assistant Manager. The Garden Spa, as stated in its name, is a garden and it's also situated beside another garden La Veranda, a place ideal for special celebrations such as weddings, anniversaries, and debuts. The spa had an asian feel to it with a soothing green walls (reminded me of our guest house whose walls are also of similar shade), lots of chinese buddha wall art, and  I even noticed the elephant-print on the reception area. I was able to pass by about seven rooms - for individuals or groups which I think only catered for women because I found out later on that male clients were shown to a different area. We were also shown the jacuzzi and sauna which had tons of orchids and had a view of the garden outside. The place was amazing, but not over-the-top.
Mum and I chose the 1-hour full-body massage since I've been dying to have one done since I-dunno-when. We were taken to our room called Waling Waling and the therapists began. I was told to strip and lie face down on the bed. At first, I felt awkward to just be wearing lingerie, but I eventually got used to it. My MT first did my feet, calves, and thighs in hard strokes using an aromatherapy oil then went on to my buttocks, back, arms, hands, neck, and eventually my head/hair (bye bye Keratase treatment). Time passed by so quick that I didn't even notice my MT telling me to rest for a while. I relaxed for a bit, but grew anxious as I was already starving and I was sure my mum felt the same. So we went to the dressing room, changed, and was surprised to find out that they served several Filipino dishes. We both chose tapa with rice, fried egg, and atchara and Jasmine tea for drinks. Overall, I loved the place and enjoyed my experience. I'd definitely go back for their body scrubs and slimming massages!

Please excuse the cloudy and blurry pictures, I just used my camera phone. boo. Out of excitement I left the just-fully-charged digicam at home.

Kerastase Nutritive Oleo Relax
Posted at 08:56 PM

First let me start off with a little background on my hair. I have  waist length brown straight hair which has undergone some unhealthy processes over the years. I first began cellophane in senior high with my classmates praising my long seemingly brown locks. This was immediately followed by several trips to the salon for relax which claimed to make hair frizz-free which was true for me, but only for 2 weeks tops. During my freshman year at the university, I had my hair colored a dark shade of brown that suited my naive vibe at the time. Junior year came and I think my hair had a reddish hint reflecting angst and rebellion. Senior year was different because at the time I realized that I knew what I wanted and just went for it giving birth to my brown hair and 3-month-gap salon trips for semi-rebonds.

Fast forward to yesterday: I went to Mall of Asia yesterday and after asking a myriad of questions to the David's Salon SA regarding Kerastase products, I purchased on the one Kerastase product which focused on keeping hair tamed, shiny, and tangle-free. I used my just-bought Kerastase Nutritive Oleo Relax treatment this morning and it wasn't at all phenomenal. As stated in the directions, I used two walnut sized scoops (okay, so I used 5 so what, I have really long hair) on my shampooed and towel-dried hair and let it sit for 15minutes. After rinsing it off, it didn't feel soft at all (compared to other hair treatments I have at home). It felt kind of sticky at first so I made sure that I didn't leave even a wee bit of hair product residue to avoid electrified looking hair after drying. haha. As always, I fan-dried my hair and to my dismay, it still didn't look like a shampoo ad. I don't think I have high expectations for the product at all. It's more of "I want to get what I paid for" in this case. The price is steep, but the results aren't that fab. In fact the pink Cream Silk conditioner does a better job. Another product that worked well on my chemically-beaten hair is the Protein Treatment from HBC which is pricier than Kerastase, but considering the amount of product which is about  four-times that of Oleo Relax, it's a great find. I'm disappointed for spending that much on a hair product considering that I don't really spend much for primping my hair, but at the very least I'm glad that I didn't buy the whole range which costs P4110 ($82USD).

If I use it again, I'll update this post just for review purposes.
